What is this?

This website helps someone determine if a phrase contains an i, L, or the number 1. This tool was originally created to help IT professionals read frequently randomized administrator passwords. However, anyone can use it! If you regularly need to tell differences between similar characters like I do, then you're in the right place.

How do I use this tool?

Simply paste your phrase into the text box above and click 'Submit'! It's that easy! Your phrase or password will be displayed underneath where it was input in a monospace font. This allows the user to easily distinguishes easily confusable characters, such as i and L. To help the user distinguish number characters such as '1', numbers are colored red.

What happens to my data?

This website does not collect or sell any data. Period. Your data is processed entirely on your browser. We will never collect your passwords, personal information, or any other metrics about you.

In addition, we are not required to comply with the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) or the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) as our website does not collect any personally identifiable information and we do not represent a business entity. As we do not engage in the collection of personal data, your privacy remains safeguarded while browsing this website. :)
